Celebrate the changing seasons with the music of the Italian Baroque. At the heart of this program is Antonio Vivaldi’s beloved The Four Seasons, featuring MBE’s concertmaster Cece Belcher and Maureen Nelson. This timeless masterpiece vividly captures the beauty and drama of the natural world, from winter’s stillness and the arrival of spring to summer storms and autumn’s abundance. Oboists Basil Reeve and Robert McManus join forces for Tomaso Albinoni’s spirited Concerto for Two Oboes in F Major, Op. 9, No. 3. Soprano Linh Kauffman and guest theorbist John Lenti complete the program with a selection of early Italian songs that celebrate the joys of spring and the promise of love.
