MBE’s Cece Belcher (violin) and Tami Morse (harpsichord) bring to life Bach’s exquisite Sonatas in A Major and G Major, for violin and obbligato harpsichord. MBE all-star Basil Reeve joins the ensemble for Bach’s vibrant Trio Sonata in F Major, bwv 525. The program concludes with a captivating journey through love, longing, and madness as soprano Linh Kauffman joins continuo artists Tami Morse and Käthe Jarka to perform a selection of Henry Purcell’s most evocative songs. From the tender beauty of Sweeter Than Roses to the dramatic intensity of Bess of Bedlam, this unforgettable program showcases why Purcell earned the enduring title of “the English Orpheus.”
