While they revered their father, each of J.S.’s sons eventually chose their own musical path, helping pave the way for a lighter and more transparent musical style which would come to define the Classical Period. This transition into the Enlightenment Era was a fascinating search for new ways to express a changing world view. The extended Bach family is a perfect kaleidoscope for viewing these transformative years.
